Lauren at Renaissance Healing Center
I am a licensed massage therapist and registered yoga teacher at Renaissance Healing Center in Jax Beach, FL.
I have great appreciation for healthy lifestyle and conscious living. When I was a baby, my mom made my baby food by prueeing fresh veggies and fruits. I never ate junk food or sodas & we had one TV channel(PBS!) My mom had been certifed to teach yoga during a 6 week stay in India and did yoga with us when we were little. In high school I was a part of a very competetive drill style dance team, where I developed in areas like leadership, responsibilty, how to take and give consrtuctive criticism, how to remain grounded when others around me are not, how to remain authentic in the face of conformity. I also gained a lot of teaching experience and returned to teach day camps and practice sessions after graduating. I also learned of the healing qualities of massage and chiropratic. After that I spent most of my time weight training, studying body building& nutrition. I began working on a horse farm where I came to find my moral threshold and learned a lot about horses, the show horse industry and hard work. At the horse farm I had a very effective experience of "instant karma", which also happened to facilitate an act of surrender and faith on my end(seeing your life flash before your eyes can do that!) I also began to appreciate massage therapy and chiropractic more and more as it helped tremendously in recivering from injuries and imbalances. Later I went on to graduate massage school, got licensed and began my career in Massage Therapy. Some where in the mix, my mom began her career in alternative health care and opened my eyes to the effectiveness of kinesiology based methods, among other cutting edge esoteric healing and diagnostic modalities. All the while feeling an overwhelming unsatisfaction about where my life was headed. I mostly felt a great inner conflict with the concept of living for weekends and vacations, the rest of the time accepting the reality of life's misery. I began to contemplate the concept of suffering and question its inevitability. Once again, my mom's influence had great impact on me as she exposed me to eastern spirituality and philosophy. I began my study and found myself in yoga class after a realization that I would, at some point, be traveling to India, as my mother did, for spiritual reasons, staying in an ashram, meditating & doing yoga everyday, sometimes several times a day. So, I found yoga and loved it. I have been practicing and living yoga ever since. Several shifts began to happen that seemed to occur as a natural refinement, rather than a decision made on my end. I completely eliminated meat from my diet, I experienced a re-emergence of creative energy facilitating a drive to draw and paint constantly for weeks at a time. I felt an inner calm and a yearning to know truth. My anxiety and stress almost completely vanished. My priorities have changed and I find less of a desire for material things.
I am now a certified yoga teacher teaching several classes a week and offering massage therapy at Renaissance Healing Center. I am expanding my offering to the world in the form of affordable workshops on yoga, meditation, pranayama, etc. Still wandering along on the path of self-realization. Allowing the universe to guide my every action, to speak through my voice and touch through my hands. I invite you to connect.
Self is the Guru, may we see that our path is an inner one, that which we are seeking is within. May we observe our thoughts, feeling, sensations, desires, pains and sufferings, and know that we are not these things. We are the perciever, the witness, the observer. We have choice and freedom. Find truth in the limitless Self.
